On top of what the court and DOL may impose, a DUI conviction can have other negative consequences that can affect other areas of your life. Those might include difficulties travelling to other states (while on probation) or other countries (especially Canada,) possible deportation or barriers to citizenship, a permanent criminal record that might be considered by employers, ineligibility for certain professional licenses or careers, military discipline, problems obtaining affordable insurance, and an inability to rent a car for business or pleasure. Finally, a conviction to the crime as charged will subject you to greater mandatory sentences if you ever find yourself in the same situation again in Washington, and may lead to a more severe punishment if you get another DUI or drug or alcohol related charge in another state.
